Curtis "Cortez" Hightman was a founding member and the lead
guitarist for Big Daddy & Red Hot Java for nearly seven years.
His sterling fretwork is heard throughout the band's first three
recordings (Live at Dave's CC, The 24th Hour, and Firebrewed).
But after nearly 40 years on the road, and a marriage to Miss
Donna, Cortez has decided to slow down a bit.
He permanently handed over the lead guitar chair to Forrest
"Fingers" Greene in November 2001, and now Joël
Johnson holds the chair. You may still occasionally
catch the Cortez sitting in with Big Daddy to
shake the cobwebs off the strings of his Clapton Special Telly.
It's always a treat. |
